Canon announced a new camera that will be announced on September 24 - it is similar to the EOS C70 whose information was previously leaked, with 3 slots for memory cards and two batteries.
Update:
Pictures have leaked from the Canon EOS C70, and Canon has confirmed that it will launch a new cine camera on September 24th.The Canon EOS C70 - said to be a 4K RAW 120p behemoth, with triple memory card slots and dual batteries - will feature a new RF lens connection socket and it looks set to become one of the best cinema cameras.
With the same mount titled the Canon EOS R5, the C70 will be able to use the best of Canon RF lenses in addition to conventional PL and EF lenses via a series of new adapters. Canon Rumors, the same site that leaked its specifications, also shared the first complete image of the camera, which as you can see above has a form factor similar to DSLR cameras.
Coincidentally, Canon just announced the launch of a new Cine Camera on September 24th at its virtual trade fair, Canon Vision. The manufacturer released a teaser image to accompany the ad (below) - although it's very vague, you can see it matches the leaked image.
We'll give you full coverage of Canon Vision, along with the Canon EOS C70 - which, we're willing to bet, won't have any overheating issues.
Original story (August 05)
On the heels of the Canon EOS R5 and R6, Canon is preparing to announce its first cinematic RF camera later this month - and it will be capable of shooting 4K video at 120p, with three memory card slots, two batteries and a full-size HDMI port. This is according to a report that the new RF Cinema EOS will be unveiled in late August, ahead of the IBC 2020 (dedicated to imaging product show) event in mid-September.
The new 8K RF Cine Camera will not be the same as the Canon EOS R5, nor will it have a 35mm full-frame image sensor. Instead, it will have the same Super35 sensor as the Canon Cinema EOS C200 and will be able to record 4K 4: 2: 2 10-bit (in ALL-I and IPB) up to 120p, as well as 4K RAW externally at up to 120p.
The leaked specifications were published on Canon Rumors' website, which also stated that the camera will have three memory card slots - two of which are UHS-II SD and one CFexpress Type B - and will be powered by two LP-E6NH batteries (same as the new generation version) of the LP-E6 batteries. Guaranteed and used in Canon EOS R6 and R5 cameras).
Plus, it'll have good internal mechanical ND filters for up to 6 stops, along with a pair of Mini XLR inputs and a full-size HDMI port. All of these specifications will be crammed into a camera that is said to be smaller than the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III, and will retail for just $ 4499.
Canon will also launch a series of cinema-focused RF mount lens changers: PL to RF with Cooke / i support, and EF to RF focal length.
It was already a busy time for Canon, between the R5 and R6 lenses grabbing the headlines and new lenses like the Canon RF 800mm f / 11 under $ 1,000. And if we were to see the RF Cinema EOS this month, Canon's bid to dominate the camera world would be in full swing.
