Canon unveiled the "EOS R", which costs $ 2,299, and is a 30.3-megapixel camera. A new range of lens mount, the Canon RX, has also been introduced along with four lenses, including three "L" models.
Canon unveiled the EOS R with four lenses, the first being the Canon RF 24-105mm f / 4L IS USM, which is a rugged lens intended for photographers and videographers. And the second RF 35mm f / 1.8 IS STM Macro. It will do double duty as a relatively inexpensive lens.
Additionally, the Canon RF 28-70mm f / 2L USM is a fast zoom lens. The company has also launched a 50mm f / 1.2 that is not quite light sensitive as the Nikon crazy f / 0.95 Z-Noct, but it is still fast and will be available soon.
Each of the new lenses has a new proprietary control ring that can be programmed to change settings such as f-stops, shutter speed, and other settings.
The EF-EOS R lens adapters allow you to use any EF lenses and even EF-S lenses without any loss in quality. You will also get full autofocus capabilities, stabilization and scaling capabilities.
The sensor is very similar to the 30-megapixel 5D Mark IV sensor, and it mimics Canon's excellent Dual Pixel autofocus system.
Canon's dual-pixel system could be faster and better, especially for video. However, the EOS R also lacks Sony's eye movement monitoring system. Canon says you can now focus on light levels down to the EV-6, making it easy to auto-focus in low-light conditions.
Although the Nikon Z6 and Z7 are the first in the field of interchangeable lens cameras with IBS, the EOS R unfortunately lacks this feature. While you'll get anti-shake features with the new RF lenses and existing EF glass.
The EOS R has a magnesium body that is resistant to dust and water droplets and weighs 660 grams with the presence of LP-E6N batteries like the 5D Mark IV, which will give better battery life than the Nikon Z6 / Z7 cameras.
It also contains an EVF, an OLED screen with a resolution of 3.69 million dots, with 100 percent coverage and a magnification of 0.76x. It also provides a MacBook and is similar to a touch bar, which you can swipe with your finger to determine focus when using the EVF, and it can also be programmed for other functions as well.
There is also an LCD screen on top that displays aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and other basic settings. There is also an SD card slot, but at least it supports high-speed SDXC UHS-II, instead of the XQD and CFexpress Type B formats.
Nikon also provided the video feature, with 4K resolution at 30 frames per second, and 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second. The EOS R also has an external video port via the HDMI port. It also has a 3.5mm microphone jack and headphones.
The EOS R also has Dual Pixel RAW, which is a system that takes two 30.3-megapixel images approximately simultaneously.
It also includes WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC technologies, along with a USB-C and HDMI port. You can also charge the camera while shooting, but you must use the included Canon PD-E1 USB Power Adapter.
