The Sony A9S is preparing to topple the Canon EOS R5, with 8K video without overheating, and it will be launched in time to coincide with the Olympic Games.

The latest information indicates that the upcoming camera may actually be the Sony A9S - part of the flagship A9 line, but not a direct successor to the current A9 products.

Sony A9S will have a sensor in the 50MP range to capture 8K 30p video. This release is intended to outpace the Canon EOS R5 with no recording limits. And with the AF features and other technologies from the Sony A7S III. The manufacturer is keen to launch the camera early next year, coinciding with the Olympics, as it will be used by professionals in conjunction with the Sony A9 II for still photos.

Interestingly, the latest Sony Alpha Rumors leak describes the video as being in recent 8K mode. And that "there will be limitations in the quality that you can record internally," indicating that the camera may have options for data transfer rate and RAW less than 8K offered by the EOS R5.

Sony will be ready to launch a new 8K camera early next year for $ 5,999.

This camera is the killer choice for the Canon EOS R5, the Sony 8K body will be a "top new camera" with a large professional form factor, an unprecedented sensor and some new standards from the Sony A7S III, such as the 9.4 million point electronic viewfinder and the improved menu system.

Reports don't mention the assumed sensor size, although like the R5, it should be in the 45-megapixel area to fill in enough pixels to capture 8K. Hence, it is clear that it will outpace the 12.1MP camera of the A7S. But it will likely score at a lower resolution than the 61MP Sony A7R IV.

Finally, the A9 is Sony's flagship professional camera line for sports and news - its USP features fast shooting and powerful autofocus. And it's not into taking explicitly high-resolution photos (which is actually counterproductive to sports and news professionals). Not to mention, the Sony A9 II only appeared last year!

Another notable feature is that Sony will undoubtedly use its own pixel shift technology to quadruple the resolution. Just as the A7R IV's 61MP sensor can produce 240MP photos. So if we assume that the new camera has the same 45-megapixel resolution as the R5, Sony's smart technology will likely produce 180-megapixel shots.

Of course, this is only speculation. And these wild specification, leaked by Photo Rumors, may be completely incorrect. However, it is very exciting:

• Bigger, professional body
• 9.44M point in electronic viewfinder
• Modern advanced sensor
• 8K video recording without overheating
• Dual card slots
• New Listing Systems from the A7S III
• IBIS shake suppressor with Active Shot Static
• Everything about this camera is new
• The price is $ 5999

Should leading Canon start looking at returning the accounts, or is this rumor hard to believe?
