Vaxis has released a new Vaxis ATOM 500 SDI Wireless Video Transceiver. This version is similar to the original Vaxis ATOM 500 but adds SDI connectivity.

The Vaxis ATOM 500 SDI Wireless Video Transmitter

As the name suggests, the Vaxis ATOM 500 SDI has a maximum limit of 500 feet (about 152 meters) on the same line of sight. Vaxis says the system has a response time of less than 80ms (0.08 seconds). With a 60fps signal it can reach almost four frames. In an interfering environment, the reach is reduced and the delay can reach 120ms (0.12 seconds, up to seven frames at 60 fps).

Its specifications can be summarized as follows:

• Transmission range up to 500 ° line-of-sight
• OLED screen
• SDI and HDMI inputs on TX, SDI and HDMI outputs on RX
• A dedicated iOS app where up to three iPhones or iPads can view the image at once
• Compact antenna design
• Optional battery mounting plates
• Support USB-C power input
• Future firmware upgrades via USB
• Smart fan

The video formats accepted by the device are:

For HDMI, the following video formats are available:

• 720P @ 50 / 60Hz
• 1280 * 1024 at 60Hz

As for SDI, the following video formats are available:

• 720P @ 50 / 60Hz
• 1080I@50/59.94/60 Hz
• 1080P@23.98/24/25/29.97/30/50/59.94/60 Hz
• 1080PSF23.98 / 24 // 25 / 29.97 / 30Hz

Energy consumption

As for power, the Vaxis ATOM 500 SDI accepts 5V DC power (power consumption is less than 6.5W). It can be powered with either a USB-C cable or the built-in NPF battery. And Vaxis says it has re-worked the battery slot - now there's a stainless steel spring clip to hold the battery firmly in place and prevent it from accidentally falling out.

Just like the original Vaxis ATOM 500, the antenna is internal. The device supports 13 channels and passcode protection. Vaxis says the audio and video are 100% syncronized with this system. There is an image preset / latency preset to choose between image quality and response time.

Vaxis Vision mobile app

The new device supports monitoring via the Vaxis Vision app. To facilitate communication with the phone, the device can display a QR code. Currently, the app is only available for iOS, Android version soon according to Vaxis.

Price and availability in the market

The price of the Vaxis ATOM 500 SDI will be $ 459
