Blackmagic Design has released DaVinci Resolve 17 Public Beta 8 of the Da Vinci Montage program which includes many improvements and bug fixes.

The company launched the first beta version of DaVinci Resolve 17 in November 2020. Since then, Blackmagic Design has been collecting feedback from Resolve 17 users and bringing in new Beta releases every now and then. We are already eighth now. Let's take a look at all the new improvements and fixes.

Resolve 17 is not targeted at the Apple M1 computers. Blackmagic Design has version 17.1 for these new Apple Silicon systems. DaVinci Resolve 17.1 montage software is currently in beta.

DaVinci Resolve 17 Public Beta 8 New Beta includes the following updates:

• Improved de-interlace quality
• Improved alpha channel scaling in ACES and RCM workflows.
• Copying grades and nodes into the Color page is now focus-based.
• Enhanced fusion path maps with ability to open folders and extended path views.
• Support for HDR scoreboard on DaVinci Resolve mini.
• Support for Netflix loudness standards in the Fairlight loudness analyzer.
• Support for non-standard DaVinci CTL IDT and ODT formats.
• Support for dragging static images to the viewer or node graph to apply the degree.
• Resolved an issue where audio was recorded to a USB headphone when using the Blackmagic Design Monitor.
• Resolved issues with adding keyframes and navigating through them from the Inspector.
• An issue where simultaneous audio was detected in the media pool was resolved.
• Resolved an issue when sorting by scene or camera # in the media pool.
• Resolved an issue where clip names were updated in the Sync clips window when using multiple clips from the same camera.
• Resolved an issue where the “put on top” command did not work correctly for headings on the cropped page.
• Resolved an issue with transfer alignment when importing or exporting DRT files.
• Resolved an issue dealing with Fusion effects on clips within a compound clip.
• Addressed issue where adding new Fusion templates required the application to restart.
• Resolved an issue where the cross fade would disappear when the audio clip input point was clipped.
• Fixed an issue with incorrect internal bandwidth on the Fairlight timeline.
• An issue with sub-section ranges created from overlapping sections was resolved.
• Resolved an issue where ResolveFX Video Collage sometimes displayed charts around tiles.
• Fixed an issue with incorrect behavior of the streaming context menu on some Linux systems on the Fusion page.
• Addressed issue where macros with output other than images sometimes display incorrect previews.
• Fixed an issue with incorrect HDR previews when using mac display color profiles was enabled.
• Fixed an issue with incorrect scaling during playback when using enhanced media in performance mode.
• Resolved an issue with incorrect OpenFX settings behavior on the Colors page when using Resolve Live.
• Resolved an issue where B-series filters and delays were not working properly on FlexBus projects.
• Fixed an issue where using OpenCL on Linux was causing a crash.
• Resolved an issue where QuickTime files introduced with AAC audio did not contain the audio for the first few frames.
• Resolved an issue with missing audio transitions when importing AAF files with timecode offset.
• DaVinci Resolve Project Server and PostgreSQL are now in a separate installer.
• General performance and stability improvements.

Da Vinci video editing program price, new version

The new DaVinci Resolve 17 Public Beta 8 is now available via the Blackmagic Design Support Center. As always, there is the Standard Edition available for free, and the Studio version that requires a purchased serial number or dongle. For those who already own a DaVinci Resolve Studio license, the new update is, of course, available free of charge.
